Energy Cycling
“Good design uses incoming natural energies with those generated on-site to ensure a complete energy cycle.” Mollison and Slay.
We can begin developing a sustainable system immediately by harnessing the energy from the sun and rain. Hopefully, in the future, we will be able to make use of energy from the wind as well! Utilizing these sources of energy will have a significant impact on the way we establish the rest of our homestead.
Rain Water Collection
Our house has no eaves troughs at the moment, which has resulted in the formation of small trenches around the perimeter of the house. These have caused a few issues in the basement, but this can easily be solved by building a customized rainwater collection system.

Solar Power
With the installation of a sufficient solar panel system, we can eventually power most of our property. We plan to start small by installing a few panels at a time and focus on powering major appliances.
